ECO Edu
Want to learn more? Have knowledge or resources you’d like to share? ECO Edu is designed to help everyone understand the importance of sustainable travel and provide a hub for resources, information and educational opportunities, including workshops throughout the state.
Check out the fall and
winter workshop schedule.

ECO was created to promote, encourage and develop sustainable travel practices in Oklahoma. Through a dynamic partnership between the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department and the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, the ECO program offers the education, certification and marketing support businesses need to provide effective sustainable travel practices economically.

Now more than ever, we need to encourage ideas, actions and practices that will sustain us. We invite you to join us.

ECO Certification:
WHAT IT MEANS, WHAT IT TAKES

To qualify for ECO certification, businesses must meet and maintain
the standards as established by OTRD and ODEQ. Your certification will let
travelers know that your business meets their expectations, and demands for
environmentally conscious practices.

ECO Advocates
Advocates are travel industry members who are engaging with one of our advocacy programs and will be identified above and beyond our other certification levels. Advocacy programs are selected based on their goals to meet a need and affect social change. The first program we are working with is Clean The World, whose commitment to making children healthier by recycling single-use amenities makes them a perfect organization with whom to launch our program.

ECO Partners
We are always looking for likeminded people and organizations with which to partner. We believe in utilizing the amazing creativity and ingenuity that exists in this field.

Our current partnerships include:

The International ecotourism Society

Please contact us if you are interested in our ECO Partners Program.

ECO Champion
We want to acknowledge those places and people who are working hard to make tourism a more sustainable industry in our state. We will regularly feature those who are doing things better and greener. If you know of a champion, nominate them here.
